I simplified this even this year so that moms of all busy levels can benefit from the clean-up session; I will post rapidly so that early birds can get to the good stuff.  If I make a reference to Christmas, it is simply because that is a very special holiday for my family, but we need our homes shiny for all the winter holidays.

Question:  What are your special holidays or traditions? What are your special memories?

If you have a special holiday or tradition during November and December, I would love to hear about it through an email or Sparkly Joyful Note in the comments section.

I am very excited about this year’s holiday events. However, the one thing that would burst my happy holiday bubble is to have a messy house, icky bathroom or no place to hang a guest’s coat when they come to visit.

My fondest memories of childhood were baking cookies, decorating the house and wrapping gifts with colorful ribbons and beautiful paper.  And although times are tough I still want to deck the halls and make little gifts look special along with having friends and family over for a game of charades and some hot cocoa and muffins.

 Join The Fun!

So please, come to hang out with us and while we boot up our busy homemaking engines,  planning, cleaning, decluttering and organizing just enough to keep the nosy neighbors and sneaky relatives happy and just enough to have our very best friends over for some holiday cheer. There will be bits and pieces of humor, so bring your giggles!

PSST! If you don’t start exactly on kick-off day! No worries, All Challenge posts will be available on the blog!  Each day there will be a developing main page to gather all the challenges and helpful posts together!

Make sure to bookmark Mommacan.com and check back daily for all the goodies!

I hope you are as excited as I am to get my home ready for the holidays!

Hugs, Pam

  1. We live in New Zealand so we have a summer xmas. So we have chilled out days at the beach, self inviting to friends places and visiting friends and fam on xmas day.
But for my young family we do a homemade activity advent calander, donate a xmas gift at a local shelter, go to the zoo, bake cookies, mixed with some treats. I also read a different xmas book each night to the kids. So the whole of December feels magical. We also have a xmas eve box I let my kids open, usually has a Xmas tree ornament, xmas dvd, popcorn, new pjs, new toothpaste and toothbrush, a classic xmas book etc. keen to add more, can’t wait to read the other comments.

  2. We have a Christmas Eve dinner at the local Italian eatery, the children open one gift each from my husband’s parents and then in the morning we have stockings, gifts and a big family breakfast. We attend early Mass and then head over to my mother’s home for a family dinner.

My favorite thing to do is drive and see the Christmas lights at the harbor on the sailboats!

  3. Since my husband I got together 16 years ago we have done Christmas with our kids on Christmas Eve because that was the day he had his daughter for the holiday. Now Christmas Eve includes 3 spouses and 6 grandchildren. We all get together here on Christmas Eve morning and I make a big batch of French toast and bacon then the grands all help pass out gifts and then the flurry of Christmas wrapping paper destruction begins, lol.
