Momma Groove and Self Care

serenity- John List Jr. August Burning

For the past few months, well since November I have made some changes in my life.  I have always had my “mom time” at Adult choir and hanging out once every other month with my gal pals. Both of these “mom times” required a quick trip to Starbucks for a Caramel/Vanilla Something, Something with Whip.  Unfortunately these where not helping my aging waist-line.

In November I made it a personal challenge to get to Curves at least three time a week and change my eating habits and my mind set.  In the last two weeks I began eating good Whole Foods and dabbling in Paleo which in turn has me eating a little big of meat.

My results in the past two weeks have been wonderful and I am gong to stick with the plan for another solid month to see if in fact adding meat and removing all processed food will give me relief to PMDD.  If you have ever had PMDD and discovered a natural way to cope you would not only run to it and embrace it, but you would shout if from the mountain tops, singing and dancing for joy.  PMDD makes life difficult and hard for you and your family.  I have had full blown PMDD for 12 years and it is painful and horrible.

This month, I had no symptoms and the only changes I made where evening primrose for five days and eating Paleo  for 6 out of 7 days… I cheated with a gluten free turkey burger twice.  The peace I felt was unbelievable and  I have my fingers crossed that it will be the same the next month.

You see, if I had not make a commitment to self-care I would not have lost the 8 inches I have in the past two months or have felt the magical wonder of a PMDD free menstrual cycle.

My Momma Groove Has NEVER been better. I am getting things done with a smile on my face and real hope in my eyes.

Can you make time for more self-care?  Do you make time for self-care?

I would love to hear about how you take care of yourself in this crazy busy world.

momma groove-Momma Groove is my little blurbs and shares from around the web of what helps me to Get Things Done around the house, the office and my volunteer work.  I am not alone in thisquest and we the busy, busy moms and  dads are holding this fort down the best we can.  Momma Groove is meant to inspire us to take care of our families and ourselves while being the most productive and efficient along the way.

  1. I’ve had an off week this week, but I too am dabbling in paleo and trying to eliminate proccessed foods. I also had a wonderful dinner last night with a couple of girlfriends and a glass of wine. Much needed.

    1. Those dinners are the best. Of course movie night at home with the boys is fun… but I am always the snack maker, movie picker, pj time nazi….

  2. It’s not late to make changes in life.. especially if it’s for the better! 🙂 healthy and delicious dinners and also going out with pals makes life happier!

    1. You are exactly right. But like all things the planning and production take up so much time, busy mom syndrome kicks in the panic mode.

  3. Good self-care, oh yes, so important for sure! So glad you wrote about this. Mom’s tend to care for everyone but themselves and then don’t understand why they feel so burned out. As for me, a trip to the gym each morning followed by time with God is what keeps me fueled and ready to go. So glad I found this on HWC link up! Nice post!

  4. That is awesome! My sister did Paleo to get the baby weight off after her second child and she dropped that weight so fast that she decided to make it a full lifestyle change. Well, she just found out she’s pregnant with her third (and her second is only 15 months) so it looks like she’ll need Paleo again in 10 months :).

  5. Congratulations! 😉 Yes, we really do have to take care of ourselves, if we don’t no one else will.
I’m thinking of doing juice fast this coming week. 😀

Visiting you from the Happy Wives Club link up.
