31 Day Clutter Crusade – Day 27 – Games and Puzzles

declutter board games, card games and puzzles

Some of my fondest memories of childhood were reading on the bench swing and playing board games with my family.  We played board games at least twice a week and my dad never played so that we could win so my brother and I became quite competitive.  I still fume at the ears when I lose a game of Words with Friends the modern digital version of Scrabble.

Words with Friends is my Candy Crush,  I have 8 games going right now.  Thank goodness the game takes up little space,  because my family has become quite the collectors of board games, video games and puzzles of all sorts and they are taking over quite a bit of space.  Which make me very happy about today’s clutter crusade challenge!

Today we are decluttering board games and puzzles to make room for new games and puzzles and create a tidy space. Less is always easier to tidy.

How to Declutter Board Games and Puzzles

Got to your game and puzzles shelves and remove all items and place in nice stacks.

TOSS IT -Go through each game and check for missing pieces, if there are too many missing pieces, toss it. (If the puzzle has missing pieces I would vote to toss it.)

KEEP IT – Now decide if the game or puzzle is still loved, played and useful. If so than it is a keeper.

DONATE IT -If the game or puzzle is not useful, loved or played often and is not in your children’s age range then please donate the game to a local charity, elementary school,  youth ministry (if appropriate) or senior home.

Replace games  and puzzles on shelves in a neat and orderly fashion and you are totally finished for the day!

  1. I’ve been putting off getting rid of the board puzzles they have outgrown because it just makes me sad.
