From Messy to Tidy 5 Minutes at a Time, the Dining Room

Here is the next area/room in our Busy Mom, Busy Life – Getting Real About Tidying Up series.

Our dining area serves many purposes in this photo, I affectionately  like to call it my purse parker and backup homework desk. It tends to become a temporary holding zone and becomes an energy zapper when the stuff just sits there gathering dust because it did not get put back in its proper place or never had a home in our house to begin with.

This party of the dining room tidy took two set of five minute timer periods.

Before Messy Dining Hutch

This is where I set the stuff, when I clear out a spot for a  homework session on the dining room hutch. Notice the forgotten musical Nativity from Christmas. It is not super cluttered, but does add to the energy sucking disaster as whole. This area took 5 minutes to tidy up.

After Side Table

Notice the lighting time-lapse. I am a busy mom, so my 5 minute increments were accomplished during mini work breaks throughout the day. I sit at a computer most days and to keep my sanity I take a little walk around the house to try to ward off what some folks call Computer Gut or Bloggers Butt.

My husband noticed the difference the second he walked in from work today. I wonder if he will repay my hard work with flowers and chocolate? 🙂

Simple Daily Challenge of the Day: Tidy the dining room or any place that you feel is giving you stress from the clutter for five simple minutes!

Question: Do you feel clutter zaps your energy levels?
