Five Simple Ways to Spend Quality Time with Our Families

  1. Eat together – Make time for family meals. We have three a day and one at the very least should be spent at a table with real food and positive conversation.
  2. Play together-  Make time each week for a family playdate. It does not cost much to have a round of Scrabble or Go Fish and it is not about the fancy name of the game but about the time spent hanging out together.
  3. Make a big deal about a couple of silly days a year.  National Doughnut Day, National Spaghetti day or make one of your own up and celebrate it with the works! Balloons, cake, and party favors.
  4. Celebrate the little things.  A lost tooth, an improved report card, a great attitude when asked to do chores.  There are so many things to celebrate each moment of the day and this is a wonderful way to show the family that it is the little things that truly bring joy.
  5.  Move together: Get outside and enjoy the day. Fly a kite, take a walk, take a mini-hike to go out and enjoy the outdoors. I cannot think of a more peaceful way to enjoy our families than a nice trip to the beach or local State Park.
