All Around the Kitchen Cock-a – Doodle Doodle-Do

All Around the Kitchen Cock-a – Doodle Doodle-Do

I am hanging out in the kitchen today.  After a long week there is sort of a scattered mess in the kitchen.  Trash, clutter, call it whatever you want.  It is just a plain old mess.

  • Legos (big momma frown)
  • Newspapers and magazines (probably my fault)
  • Ball caps
  • Empty merlot bottle (well, where did that come from?)
  • A couple of cola cans
  • Dirty dishes (shameful)
  • Shoes (grrrr!)
  • Books
  • A random banana peel
  • And an over-flowing trashcan.

The trashcan is an awful little thing.  If it ends up full and does not get emptied it becomes a magnet for stacking trash.

  1. Milk cartons
  2. Microwave popcorn bags
  3. Water bottles
  4. Wadded up paper towels
  5. Chewing gum wrappers

Sometimes, this can really annoy me.  Mean- momma comes out and thinks, “Why am I the only dang person in the world that empties this ‘blankity-blank-blank- trashcan?’  Well, that is no way to start the day.  So here is the Simple Daily Challenge for the Day for myself and any overwhelmed WAHM, SAHM, momma, step-momma, young momma or cranky momma out there.

Pick a groovy tune:  My choice for the day is Dane Zanes’, All Around the Kitchen Cock-a – Doodle Doodle-Do.   You can find it on the recording collection Family Dance.

.Now, turn it on and as fast as you can:

  1. Take out the Trash
  2. Tidy Up the Area
  3. Put All the Mess in a basket.

This should take around 5 minutes or 2 Push Plays of one groovy tune.

When your family gets home for the day have them put away all their mess.  I mean surely all that mess in the basket does not belong to the mommas!

I found the the cute tin decoration on Amazon for a really good price. I am looking for something to cover the phone hook up in the kitchen that I no longer use. This seems like a perfect fit.  I love coffe and I love chickens.

  1. My kitchen is a mess too. I also use it for a sewing room. Right now we have six week old kittens that are hanging out in the kitchen all the time under everyones feet and they are into everything.

  2. Wow, I needed this. As I look at my house, not just the kitchen, I really get overwhelmed. I hate a dirty house, but always get overwhelmed when it gets to a point where you just do not know where to start. Oh the life of a Mom.

I am now following you as well, from the Super Stalker Sunday Hop! Yeah, I am behind on checking out that blog list! 🙂

Hope you can check out my blog sometime as well. http://atlantamilitarymom.com

  3. I have thoughts like that a lot! I definitely need to shift my thoughts sometimes and just take a few minutes to get things done. Thanks for the suggestion!

  4. LOVE IT!! At any given time my kitchen has at least nine of those ten items in it! I think putting it in a basket might save me from becoming a basket case!

  5. My boyfriend takes out the trash, I feel like a lucky lady. I do get pretty stressed out when our recycables start overflowing though! We also have certain portions of our kitchen (like the window sill next to our table) that tend to make me think “this must be how hoarding begins.”
