I have fallen in love with whole food smoothies and just really wanted a super yummy recipe my teen would love that had the health benefits of cranberries in spinach, the trick is pitted dates!  When you add this whole food sugar it makes a super tasty smoothie that kids will love. Just remember a high-quality high-speed blender helps to make the smoothest smoothie on the block! Your family will frown if they get a big chunk of spinach swimming up through the straw.

  • Method: Blender
  • Cuisine: American

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup frozen or fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup fresh hulled strawberries. ( basically, remove the green stem and leaves)
  • 1 cup almond milk ( add more for a smoother drink)
2 oz or 2 big handfuls of fresh organic spinach leaves
  • 1 banana, peeled
  • 4 to 5 Pitted Deglet Noor Dates or 2 pitted Medjool dates
  • Ice (optional)

Instructions

Blend all the ingredients in a blender until smooth and creamy. I add the frozen cranberries first, then the banana, dates, spinach, and strawberries. It just seems to blend easier layered in the manner. I blend on smoothie setting on the Vitamix.  Use what blender you have.

Notes

You can use blueberries or raspberries in place of the strawberries. I also add green apple slices if we have some in the fridge! Yum!
