Disaster In The Kitchen

Every week I have a disaster in my kitchen. The fire alarm goes off repeatedly. But it doesn’t stop me being adventurous.

Disaster in the kitchen. It really goes hand and hand when you are a parent. I am amazed at how some folks can keep a nice tidy kitchen and some folks keep a mini-disaster zone and yet we all manage to make some breakfast and get our children off to school on Monday morning. It’s just life, its busy and messy and if we are lucky we can get in a couple of those super tidy and clean days.

(This is an example of an honest to goodness kitchen disaster I experienced while trying to talk on the phone and microwave an egg. I do not recommend this. )

I personally fare better in the kitchen when it is relatively clean and tidy. If it is messy the only cooking you will get out of me is microwave popcorn and cereal.  If it is clean and tidy then you might get lucky and I will chop, mix, steam, fry or bake something truly edible.

So push you sleeves up and let’s get ready.

Turn on some groovy tunes and we will begin.

Simple Daily Challenges -10 minutes of groovy tunes and groovy cleaning.

  1. With a damp towel wipe down the kitchen cabinets paying particular interest to the part you grab when you open the cabinet.
  2. Take your favorite counter cleaner and working left to right in the room wipe down the counters. If you find that there are dishes piled about 3 feet high then perhaps you can give a few minutes to cleaning them or unloading and reloading the dishwasher. If you are feeling stubborn then just stack them neatly as you can in the sink.
  3. Empty the trash bin in the kitchen only and by golly if you have a teenager sitting around playing video games send him/her to do this task and have them help with the dishes! Chances are they added to the pile anyway

* I am reposting this blog post because it fit perfectly with today’s challenge and I its is a nice reminder that I have since learned my lesson and have not created this particular explosion in many, many days.

Have a Rocking Thursday!

  1. That’s actually a great picture. How many people would think to take a picture and then dare to post it on a blog? Not too many I think, and it’s very cool you share this kind of thing with us.
