Don’t Judge Me By My Messy Closet

The reason why I started blogging in the first place is because I wanted to motivate first myself and then others to move forward in the home-making and not worry about all the things that get left undone.  These days moms are busier than ever and finding time to take care of their own belongings usually takes the third row seat of their mini-vans.

There are only so many hours in a day and most of these hours are taken up by family, work, potty training, church, volunteering and trying to cook a healthy meal in 30 flat minutes while monitoring children and doing laundry simultaneously.

Time it seems as a mom is precious.  And we read countless books, blogs and magazines to try to figure out how to do it perfectly.  It is really almost impossible to find time to take care of our personal stuff when we are taking care of everyone else’s stuff.

So to keep the peace for my own well being I walked around the house today and decided to choose one place that is a part of me to make just a little bit better.

I chose my closet.  It’s is a big fat mess.  It is always a thorn in my side when I walk by the darn thing.

I really feel that I am a pretty organized hard worker, great mom and wife.  But my closet reflects chaos.  And today I am just going to spend 5 or 10 minutes in my closet to make it reflect more of whom I truly am.

Chances are anything on the floor is something that either does not fit , is not loved or does not have a proper home.

So, I am going to grab two plastic bags and a laundry basket.

  • Bag 1 is for donations
  • Bag 2 is for trash
  • Basket is for items that have no proper home. ( Tomorrow, I will find those places a home, pinky promise.)

I am turning on my Ipod.
and listeng to my favorite motivational music ( Dolly Parton, Better Get To Livin’
really works for me) and I am going to give my closet some momma love.  I am going to hang up strays, toss what is trash, donate what I do not love and place any things that do not have a home in that basket.

Simple Daily Challenge for today:  Spend 5 to 10 minutes and make something that is part of you more organized.  Your closet, your maker up drawer, you Sanity Corner or your cook book collection.

Tip: I hang my handbags on hangers in my closet.  It is the one thing that is totally organized right this minute.

Enjoy the Journey,
Momma

  1. You’re kidding, right?! You call THAT gorgeousness “unorganized”? Clearly you haven’t seen my post from yesterday where I give a sneak peek into my 3 tiny, urban closets. It’ll make you feel like Spiffy McSpifferson. I promise. 😉

  2. My closet is always a mess too. I think maybe people should just stay out of there. You can’t be perfect all of the time, right?
