I really enjoyed last week’s article on your closet,the matching lemon yellow hangers, color-coded clothes and 75 pairs of heels all labeled with perky pink lettering to compliment the buttercup yellow boxes. I have never seen so many cocktail dresses with labels still intact hanging in one woman’s closet in my life… thank you for the privilege of letting us peek into your magically perfect world.
I was surprised to hear that it only cost 7,000 bucks to makeover your closet, I would have guessed at least 10,000 or more! What a bargain!
I hope that Kmart comes out with an affordable version of your super deluxe cushy closet rug and maybe some pretty boxes so that I can be just like you!

Rule Number One in Closet Organzing – Don’t be Janie Doormat – Be Free- Be You
Rule Number 2 : Don’t be a closet hoarding, clothes collecting Momma! Be You, Be Free!
Only have things in your closet that fit great, look great, feel great and bring out your best look and smile. I know that sounds cheesy, I don’t care.
LET’S BE CHEESY! Let’s be CORNBALL CHEEZY!
Remove the clothes that make your frown and donate them.
Now, don’t donate so much that you are going to be walking around like Eve before she bit the apple!
Take note of what you need and start purchasing good quality clothes that do these four things.
1. Fit Great
2 Look Great
3. Can be worn at least two to three different ways…. like dark washed jeans and a white blouse, they go with like everything!!
4. Makes you smile, and say, darn I am one hot chili pepper!!!! Well, at least a nice jalapeno with a great momma smile! Be You, Be Free, Don’t Hoard!
Rule Number 3 : Be Territorial – Stake Your Claim
It is really hard to keep your stuff organized when you are busy as a tick on a farm dog, especially us busy moms. And it is nearly impossible to keep your things neat, organized and easy to find when folks in the house are using your closet as a giant dumping zone for stuff that they don’t know what to do with and figured you would.
Stake Your Claim and let them know that they have their space and you have yours! Even our spouses/partners will get on board as long as they have their own space as well. Your closet, should be off-limits to your children and YOU should not be wearing theirs clothes out of respect, even if you are a size 4 at the age of 45. P.S. I kind of hate you. 🙂
So here is our tiny project for the day, and really it is not so bad. You may have to go back two or three times, once you are really honest with yourself.
- Clear out the stuff you don’t love, taking care not to clear it completely until you have at least one or two PERFECT outfits.
- Follow the Four Be You, Be Free rules when shopping.
