Happy New Year!

May your day be filled with good food and fond memories.
May your resolutions be shiny and filled with hope and happiness.
May you keep harmony all day with the family.
And may your night bring you peace and  forgiveness.
Because there is nothing better than the taste of peace
and nothing more pure than the feeling of hope.

What are you eating today? What food does your family consider good luck for the new year?
I have always had black-eyed peas and greens with ham hock. Cooked all day long and served with a hunk or cornbread.

Hopping John – why does it hop?  Who knows?  Does it taste great?
Yes, the is Emril’s take on the old fashioned recipe and it looks pretty good.

Mine is cooked with a Smoked Turkey Leg because  my husband only eats birds that don’t fly well and Coconut Shrimp on occasion.
He brings the word picky to new heights, but I still love him.

And just so we can be WINNERS on at least one New Year’s Resolutions try this one…..

  1. First off I want to say terrific blog! I had a quick question that I’d like to ask if you do not mind. I was interested to find out how you center yourself and clear your mind prior to writing. I have had a hard time clearing my thoughts in getting my thoughts out there. I do take pleasure in writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes tend to be wasted simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any recommendations or hints? Cheers!

    1. I have always been a super busy person. When I need to do something and have deadline I just do it. Over the years I have learned not to say yes to absolutely everything. This means the tasks I have agreed to allow to eat up my time actually have a spot someplace on my radar to be finished.
It takes me a few minutes to wind down to writing or anything really. And if I don’t feel it, then I do some other task and try again a bit later.
      enjoy the journey,
      Pam
