How To Create A Media Center With Six Cube Organizer
How To Create A Media Center With Six Cube Organizer
I woke up really looking forward to getting ready for the day, dropping off my son to school and popping into my home-office to work this morning. Why, because I had something new and pretty to look at and it has me smiling from ear to ear.
With the help of my favorite side-kick (my husband), I revamped my little six-cube organizer project (that I already loved) and kicked it up a notch with another six-cube organizer and super cool white floating shelf. I turned the super versatile six-cube organizer shelves into a smart-looking media center using items I already had at home.
I could not be happier with the purchases, but the biggest payoff is walking in and seeing two of my greatest achievements in my crazy, busy life smiling at me. 🙂
I am really, really, loving the new white floating shelf.
In the photo below you see my test basil plant ( pictured above sitting on the cube-shelves) from our Monday Tips, How to Grow A Basil Plant Indoors.
{Here is the post if you missed it.}
Before we leave I have to show-off the before, middle and after of this mini-makeover organizing project. These photos will show you how simple it is to create a budget-friendly media center using six-cube organizers.
Here is the before shot. Yikes! Messy, dark and drab but I am still thankful my husband gave me a television! I am slightly embarrassed by the clutter, but happy it is now pretty and organized. My husband put the tv in the room and once I started watching I realized what a fright that part of the room really was! So I got rid of lots of clutter and organized.
Here is the first after, with the addition of de-cluttered shelves and labels for my craft bins.
Now that the space is cleared it looked clean and organized but lacked life and my beloved cookbooks.
Here is the after and I am so happy with the results. There are a couple of elements here that I love other than my handsome boys. One are the memory jars on the shelf, one for each boy and two is the little white utensil pot that I am using to store the media changers. Plus, with the addition of the extra shelves, my cookbooks are back in my office ready for meal planning!
You can view the original TV stand post here. And we purchased the floating shelf at The Container Store.
This project cost under 100 dollars and an additional 35.99 for the floating shelf. I did already have one of the six-cube organizers in the house, so I re-purposed it and used it for this project. A full-size media cabinet would cost at least a couple of hundred dollars or more and that is fine if you have the bucks to spend. However, I really enjoy the idea of creating different designs using these fun six-cube organizers as they truly allow for flexibility in how to use them and do not cost an arm and a leg.
