Wipeout Wednesday – The Kitchen

Wipeout Wednesday

The kitchen is the most used room in our house during the spring time.

If it’s a mess the whole house is a mess.

There is something about a kitchen that can set the mood of this momma and the whole family.  If I can keep it tidy then magically healthy home cooked meals appear, nifty art work is created and I can enjoy a nice cup of hot green tea sitting at a pretty kitchen table.

Today I am spending 10 simple minutes tidying and wiping down counters.  If I have an extra 2 minutes at the end of this task I will zip the broom across the ickiest parts of the floor.

I f I don’t have time today then so what! I am a work at home mom and am writing up lessons plans for a volunteer music class I teach this afternoon.  I cannot expect miracles.  But I can move forward in my homemaking to the best of my ability and feel great about my home and myself.

It usually takes me about 5 minutes to clear up breakfast and lunch dishes, then another three or so to wipe down the counters.  If something spectacular occurs like a massive milk spill or a oatmeal explosion then it might take a few more.

But this is the life of a momma and this is the life I chose for myself.

Simple Daily Challenge for today is get your happy momma face on, busy the children with art-work or reading and tidy the kitchen, wipe down the counters and give just the icky part s of the floor a quick sweep.  I find that mopping in the middle of the day is a total waste of time.  It stays clean about 2 minutes during the summer time.  I save this task for once or twice a week after the family goes to bed.

That is it! 10 minutes without interruptions and the kitchen will look so much better and we will be wearing our Super Momma smiles and not the I Can’t Do It All Frowns.  We are moving forward and that is what counts.

Get to it and when you finished have a hot tea and read a story to the little ones.  They are only little once.

  1. Wiping down counters and bar is a daily chore. I wipe and clean as I go. I try to sweep and mop every other day. However, I don’t have any kids at home so it is easier to do it daily.

Now our dining table is another story. It’s like a junk drawer for Hubby. I pick up and he puts down. It’s so annoying. We use the bar to eat our meals. \
