31 Days of Grateful October Community Challeng- Help Feed The Hungry

Announcing the 31 Days of Grateful October Community Challenge.  Here is a small challenge for you and your families to consider for the month of October. Food banks and pantries are often swamped during the colder months as well as around the holidays. Although several food pantries have access to Foodshare ( local pantries still have to pay for Foodshare items, but the cost is greatly reduced) many staples are not available and we rely on donations to keep much-needed proteins, like tuna and peanut butter along with pasta sauce and even macaroni and cheese! The challenge is simple. Each day add one canned or dry food item to a box and as a family talks about how grateful you are that you have been blessed with so many things that you are sharing your abundance with those in need.

At the end of the 31 days drop off your donation to your closest Food Pantry.
The 31 Days of Grateful October Community Challenge!

Here is a general list for Food Items to donate for the 31 Days of Grateful October Community Challenge to help those who are hungry and in need.  However, contact your local food pantry for a much-needed items list to keep in mind when you and your family fill your box.

If you take this challenge make sure to share the photo of your donation box on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram #31FORHUNGER and/or tag us on Instagram @mommacan or twitter @mommacansing

I would love to see your family in action and help other families join in this simple way to show our love for those in need and reflect on how grateful we are for our blessings!

  1. What a fantastic idea. And for those of us who stocked up on canned goods to get through the hurricane season why not donate what you didn’t need after all.

  2. This is a great post for such a worthy cause! I like that you included ideas for what to donate. Thank you Pam for linking up at the #BloggingGrandmothersLinkParty. I shared your post on Fb, G+, Pin, and Tw.
