How To Take Great Halloween Kid Photos
NO TEARS – NO SUGAR BUZZ – NO MELTDOWNS
There is nothing more difficult than getting a three-year-old to sit still after he or she has consumed two mini Snicker Bars, a handful of M & M’s, one pineapple lollipop, and countless candy corns.
A meltdown or tantrum is inevitable when you put your little ones in front of a camera lens when all they want to do is eat more candy or lie down quietly somewhere safe to take a nap.
Take Photos Before Candy Crusade
Sure you can get in a couple of nice shots before they go on their great candy crusade and a few during the trick or treat fun. But will you get that money shot? Will you get that mega-scrapbooking, send one to the grandparents, or frame it for the wall shot?
At momma’s house, we have a pre-Halloween photo shoot at home the weekend before the event. It works out perfectly because at home we can schedule the photo shoot around the little guy’s naps or right went the house has the best lighting.
It is nice because it can show off a few of our Halloween decorations and sometimes the yearly carved pumpkin.
So simple and so rewarding…. Here are some shots for examples below:
Take Several Photos
You need to take at least 25 – 50 photos so that you can have lots of choices.
And it is a bunch of fun when the little ones are not so tired.

- Grab the children or an adult who is willing to dress up in his or her favorite costume.
- Get your camera out ( it should be charged and ready for Halloween by now!)
- Get a few props
- Decide on a room or outdoor setting
- Take a whole bunch of memory making pictures!

Debbie these are photos of Johnny when he was younger. He is now 12 and in 7th grade.
Such a great idea. My kids are too old for this now but they loved dressing up in their costumes before the big night so that was a great opportunity to snap a few pics. To this day those are some of my favorites!
