Simple Basic Cranberry Sauce Recipe, tart and sweet, the perfect pairing for your holiday meals and other yummy recipes.




  1. Empty 12-ounce bag of cranberries into a saucepan, add 1 cup sugar, a tablespoon of lemon or orange zest, and three tablespoons of water, and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
  2. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until sugar dissolves and berries are soft around 10 minutes. Increase heat to medium and cook until berries burst, around another 10 minutes.
  3. Add sugar to taste and cool to room temperature before serving.


You can make this dish ahead of time and freeze. Use frozen cranberry sauce within 2-months after preparation.
