Design to me means creating something that brings an emotion to a blank canvas. This could mean a stretched art canvas, a blank computer screen with a cursor hovering over a splashing red and ocean blue water wash, a paper-cutter taking the edges off a scattered rose paper or the artful layout of a beautifully decorated room.

I feel that design is going to be moving toward up-cycling more and more and intend to really take a look at items I have in my home before I make a decision to replace them.  I am looking forward to dipping my toe back into my roots remembering fondly working side by side with my dad as a girl in his workshop, with sticky paint in my hair and a smile on my face.

Decorating and creating beautiful things are very dear to my heart. My mom has been working in the textile industry and prior to that lighting for as long as I can remember. She has the best eye for color and can set a table for a king’s dinner in the blink of an eye.

I learned from the best.
