Classic Ambrosia Salad Recipe with Pecans

Classic Ambrosia Salad with Pecans is a traditional recipe that many have for Thanksgiving make with mandarin oranges, pineapple and coconut. Is is light and not overly sweet so is a perfect addition to any potluck or special dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup mandarin organges ( drained well)
  • 1 cup pineapple bits (drained well)
  • 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup miniature marshmallows
  • 1 cup sourcream

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl combine drained mandarin oranges and pineapple tidbits, coconut, chopped pecans, mini-marshmallows and sour cream.
  2. Stir to combine.
  3. Chill for 30 minutes to two hours before serving. 
  4. If making a day ahead, then add 1/2 more marshmallows, stir to combine, chil for 15 to 20 minutes and serve. 

Notes

Cook Tip: For a pretty presentation set aside a few mandarins oranges and pineapple tidbits to add to the top along with a good extra sprinkle of coconut and pecans. This allows the colors to pop.
