Mom-Olympic Challenges for Today – Tackling Big Projects

Snowy Country Fence

We are celebrating our own little Mom- Olympics in honor of this year’s Olympic Winter Games. I personally love the ice skating. I have learned to hold my breath through nearly an entire routine in fear of the poor participant falling on their bum.

If you did not see the initial Game Challenge you can find it here.

Momma Olympics – Homemaking Game for Busy Moms

We are tallying up points each day for household chores and general home paper pushing, like meal planning and paying the bills. Our points are our daily little mommy medals.  I am aiming for at least 250 points this morning. This will be a snap because each Olympic Challenge listed below is worth 100 points!

Let’s Begin:

This morning  I was glancing out the bedroom window and staring at the unpleasant view of my balcony that is in desperate need of some sanding and painting.  I often think to myself, it would be so nice to get balcony painted so that I can enjoy the mornings with a cup of steamy cream filled coffee in a comfy chair and later watch the sunset over the hills with a nice hot mug of Sleepy Time Tea or a warm soothing glass of Merlot with a piece of good cheese.  But this will never happen until I get that balcony sanded, sealed and painted and unfortunately I do not have any magic working elves to do it for me.

So this is the focus of today’s challenges.

1. Find a task that seems to overwhelming to accomplish in one day as a busy mom. This could be cleaning out a big closet, deep cleaning the refrigerator, working on a craft project or updating a tired old balcony. Now for the remainder of the Mom-Olympics work on that project each day for 10 to 15 minutes and grab your easy 100 points.  Last year I managed to clean out the broom closet in the just  three minutes per day and finished in three!  So this is totally a doable if you choose the right project.

2. Grab some rags and your favorite dusting solution and dust  the living room and entryway for 10 minutes. Check out this silly post on 5 Reasons Why We Should Love to Dust. 100 points!

3. Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy: Write your spouse or child a happy little note and place it some place they will find today.  This little notes are simple ways to make memories and it will give them a little spiritual hug to last all day long.  100 points!

Have a rocking day!
