When One Door Closes – Another One Opens : A Momma Reflection and a Kitchen Challenge

When one door closes another one opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the ones which open for us.

~Alexander Graham Bell

I love this quote: It encourages me to move forward even on the days when I might not feel like trying.

I love this quote:  Because when one of my boys has a particularly bad day I can pull it out and read it and they are baffled by my wisdom.

I love this quote: Simply because it is a quote that any darn person in the world can read and use immediately.

What door has closed for you?
One that comes to mind for me is having another child.  I am getting up there in years. I always wanted a little girl.

What door has opened for you?

I would have to say blogging.  I have met some really nice people.  They have enabled me to reflect on my past and look forward to learning new things and experiencing life from a new angle.

When one door closes another one opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the ones which open for us.

~Alexander Graham Bell

I hate this quote:  Only because it happens to have the word door in it more than once.

I am working in the kitchen and am looking at the sliding glass door.

The doors in the kitchen get so nasty.

They very often lead into the backyard so you get mega-muddy finger prints, dog nose prints, puppy paw prints, squashed bugs, and let’s not think about the occasional bird that makes the mistake of trying to fly through a sliding glass door.

So my good friends today Simple Daily Challenge is to take out your favorite glass and door cleaners and clean the doors in the kitchen area.  That is pretty much it and this challenge should only take around 5 or 10 minutes.
Make it shine!

Then open it…..

* I am reposting this heart-felt challenge in honor of my youngest son, who turn nine years old yesterday!  Happy Birthday Little Guy!  Momma loves you.

** The door I am opening in the photograph is from the first school of integration in Little Rock, this is a very good learning -tourism spot for young children.

  1. I had a huge “door closes – one opens” moment when I learned that my twins had to be delivered early via c-section. Not my idea of an “open door”, but their being delivered early gave me time to recover which was HUGE!

    1. I am always looking for the most promising door. But I know that the door put in front of me was given for a reason.

  3. Love how you tied a great saying to cleaning. I needed the encouragement so thanks, Pam.
