Easter Egg Dyeing is one of the most memorable events a kid experiences during Easter! There is nothing more hands-on than watching your kid stick their toddler hands inside a full cup of blue dye days before they will be dressed up in their new Easter clothes. I am sure my mom fussed about my brother and I sticking our hands in the cup mainly because blue and green hands would not match her Easter Sunday Photo color scheme! Not to mention, the dye in the seventies was pretty darn potent! We made ours from food coloring and vinegar. There were kits, but, we were a DIY kind of family. We always had tons of food dye because my mom made all the birthday cakes. ( good memories, thanks mom)
When my brother and I got older and no longer needed Barbie and Train birthday cakes and the dye was not as readily available in our pantry mom bought the PAAS Kits
! It was a darn exciting day! My mom bought a DELUXE kit! It had two egg dippers, two wax crayons, stickers and 8 different shades of Easter egg dye. To say we were crazily excited is an understatement.
These days the design kits for dyeing eggs are limitless! And the prices are fantastic!
You can have quite the Easter Egg Dyeing Party with a couple of kits, two dozen eggs, and maybe a little bit of chocolate to celebrate the occasion!

Easter Egg Dyeing Gift Basket
This year we sent Easter Egg Dyeing Baskets as gifts! I little surprise for the busy young parents to have all the goodies to decorating eggs with the kids.
The baskets have several dye kits and Easter egg decorating tools
. We also added hidden chocolates
at the bottom of the basket and some eggs that can be dyed that are made of non-breakable material.
To make the gift basket more festive I added a printable Easter Egg Decorating tag with some twine. I created six tags and they are available in our amazing printable library. Details at the end of this post!
