Welcome to the Self-Care Challenge of the 40 Day Clutter Challenge
If you are new here I suggest starting where we are today or going and visiting the page link below to start from the beginning.
40 Day Clutter Challenge- You Are Loved
Today our suggested areas are paper and the freezer. But first a note on self-care as busy parents, caregivers and just folks in general. Today we are going to learn self-care ideas for busy moms.
Self-care is not a joke. Self-care is taking care of the engine that helps to take care of your family. Self-care is not selfish but the very opposite. If you do not take care of yourself physically, spiritually and intellectually you will not be able to be fully in the moment of beautiful everyday life events and will be setting a poor example for the people you love. Don’t you want your spouse and children to practice self-care??? Of course, you do. Because you love them.
Learn Self-Care Ideas For Busy Moms 30-20-20
I have been practicing a 30/20/20 regiment. 30 minutes of movement, 20 minutes of study and 20 minutes of prayer/meditation. Yes, all three sometimes does not happen every single day. I try to make sure at least one segment happens each day. I know it is crazy when you are the mom of small children, so ask for help. If you can’t get help then include your kiddos in your 30 minutes of movement using videos or upbeat dance music and study for a few minutes before bed while taking you last segment through the day as mini-moments of prayer (or begging God for a break, I hear you) or meditation.
Relaxing is a Learned Behavior
Relaxing is a learned behavior and you can have that time each day with your children.
- Turn down the lights.
- Take out quiet play items, one cuddly stuff animal or doll that they choose for quiet time and two or three books.
- Turn on some quiet tranquil, preferably classical music.
- Lay on the floor together and just relax.
Yes, this will take practice, but I have seen some pretty amazing quiet time with 12 parents and 12 toddlers in a room. If I can get 12 toddlers (I was a mommy and me music teacher before I became a blogger 🙂 )to relax with their parents then anything is possible!

CHALLENGE – Remember our goal is to tidy and organize for 20 minutes and get rid of 12 items of clutter each day.
Today our suggested focus areas are the freezer and paper.
Freezer – get rid of outdated food and food you will never eat. Organize what is left.
Paper- toss and shred today what needs to be done. ( Shredding is my least favorite thing to do in the world… I suggest a hot tea or cocoa treat when complete.)
QUESTION: How do you make time for self-care? Do you feel self-care is important in a family?
