How To Have A Rocking Mother’s Day Weekend – Day One

Rock Star Mom

How to have a rocking mother’s day weekend?  Well make it guilt free by having our home tidy and shiny and then plan something fun!

For the next four days we are going to zip around the house tidying and cleaning our way to a guilt free, happy to be, Mother’s Day weekend.  Everyone needs a day to recognize their courage, strength, skills and beauty.  Ours just happens to be called Mother’s Day. If you don’t celebrate Mother’s Day or if you happen to be dad who stumbled here buy accident.  Grab some tools and clean along with us for four fun days!

They say there is a magic in the number seven or maybe they say its lucky.  But whatever, I am going to try to keep our tasks for the day in seven simple steps that you can do in all at once, in increments or you can divvy them up with husband and/or the children.

  1. Do a quick 52 pick-up – any place in the house that needs it.
  2. Wash, dry and put away all the dishes in the kitchen.
  3. Clean the counters and the kitchen sink.
  4. Take out all trash cans through out the house.
  5. Make the beds.
  6. Put away all clutter in at least one bathroom.
  7. Wipe down the bathroom sink.

Yep, that seems like a bunch of stuff, and here is the catch. I am sneaking in a little trick that will make all this run more smoothly.  Every night this week try to have a 10 minute kitchen and den clean-up session. I know its not fun. I know we are trying to cram that little bit of reading, homework catch-up or just had the worse day of work ever and just want a glass of wine and some mindless television.

10 minutes! For Peace! 10 minutes for a zipping morning breakfast prep!
( dream of a most peaceful weekend that at least has you enjoy a quiet cup of coffee looking out window or something cool and frivolous that is equally relaxing)
