Closet Cleanout and Project 333

Spring Blossoms

Summer is nearly here, or wait is it here? I have no idea my plate is so full these days, that I had to go out and buy a platter to compensate for all the “Happenings” on our family calendar.  The biggies are 5th grade promotion and end of year party and my oldest son is getting married!   How do I cope in the chaos?

Don't BE THAT MOM

Well, honestly, sometimes I don’t. Sometimes I sit at the keyboard typing and or designing and have a mommy-melt down… complete with soothing Aloe tissues and plenty of tears with a stellar runny red nose.  Some of you can relate, the overwhelmed-mommy-syndrome, she is spinning plates while unicycling to the grocery store for more paper towels and chicken nuggets when she drives over a nail and then BAM, everything is in utter chaos and the only thing left to do is cry it out.

[bctt tweet=”We all need that cry-out every once in a while.”]

But we can’t cry or umm ( have a screaming fit) all the time, so we have to learn to cope in the chaos.  I cope by organizing things and making lists.

project 333

A friend on Facebook shared an article about this neat idea called Project 333.

Here is the original post,  Minimalist Fashion Project 333 Begins…

It is not a fancy post, with lots of photos and bells and whistles to dazzle the reader’s mind. Really it is a simple idea with a simple list.  Yet, it seems to have taken off like a crazy ( I would say wildfire, but we do not use that term lightly in Southern California).

In a nutshell, Project 333 is perfect for busy, moms. If busy moms can pop into their closet and choose an outfit in 30 seconds or less… just think of the time they could save. If all the kids had the same kind of set up… even more time saved.

PROJECT 333

What you do:  You take the current season  ( currently  late Spring here) and create a fashion capsule using 33 items, which include Clothing, Outer-wear, Jewelery and Shoes. Now, don’t run away yet. It does not include workout clothes and the shoes that you use for the sport, lounge wear and pajamas and the pieces of jewelry you wear every day, like your wedding band and Fitibit, hehe.  Choose your 33 items, box up the rest for using the next time plus consider donating items that you will simply NEVER wear again.

When I boxed up all the clothes that I really did not like, did not fit well, or did not love I was left with very little. I had so many sweater sets that were getting that fuzzed up look and so many pairs of black slinky dress pants that I had to just consider a complete overhaul.( And I have only just begun today)

My biggest discovery… I have been buying clothes to suit other people’s tastes for YEARS!  For example: I cannot stand collars on stiff golf shirts, yet all my golf shirts have collars and are stiff as cardboard.

My big fat closet promise to myself is to take time to find the right fit, make sure the piece is on my shopping list for ultimate versatility and most importantly… I have to LOVE IT!

stay tuned for more project 333

I will be working on this wardrobe project for the next few days and will share my chosen 33 at the end of the week.

I must say I am truly excited about getting up in the morning and just having a few items to look through to decide what to wear, what a time saver.

I am totally psyched for this PROJECT 333 and how it will help simplify my life, less is more, folks, less is more.

Photos coming soon! The graphics are to pretty to look at today, I don’t want to scare them with my MESSY CLOSET photos. haha

  1. It is super helpful to figure out what it is you like to wear and what you never use. My weight has fluctuated so much that I don’t want to toss anything, but I basically wear regularly only a fraction of what I own so I can see the value in this kind of project 🙂
