DIY Outdoor Tabletop Fire Pit

Summer at our house means lots of fresh salads and grilled veggies. We are not strangers to a hamburger with the works or a platter full of bbq chicken. But we also love a good S’more and this year we are toasting those marshmallows in style. I have put on my coveted DIY baseball cap and my fabulous red work apron and created a DIY Outdoor Tabletop Fire Pit.
This DIY Outdoor Tabletop Fire Pit is perfect for roasting marshmallows and making delicious S’mores.

With a few simple items and a little time, I put together the table top fire pit to use throughout the summer for stay-cation weekends, celebrations and gatherings. The tabletop firepit -marshmallow roaster is so easy to make I had to share it!

Instructions for DIY Outdoor Tabletop Fire Pit

Container- I used a ceramic planter, but you can use any ceramic, clay or concrete bowl. It needs to be deep enough to hold the gel fuel cans and must be heat-safe.
Fire Pit Filler- obviously this has to be fire-proof.
I used polished stones and pea gravel. You can also use lava rock and fire glass.
Fuel – Sole Gel Fuel like Sterno

DIY Tabletop Fire Pit the best smore makerDirections:

1. clean and completely dry ceramic bowl and if needed the pea gravel and river rock.
2. Add river rock to halfway mark of the ceramic bowl.
3. Even out with pea gravel.
4. Add gel cans.
5. Fill remainder of a ceramic bowl with pea gravel taking care not to cover gel cans.
Note: Make sure gel cans have at least one-inch clearance around the bowl and two inches inside.

Lighting your fire pit: Take care to keep this in a safe place out of reach of children. Never leave your lit fire pit unattended. Snuff out the flame with lids of cans, carefully. I use a pair of tongs to set the lid on top to snuff and prevent burning. Sterno has a tool for this job, you can find it here.
