My family loves French bread anything. They especially love sliced baguette slathered with olive and grilled until the bread is just toasty enough to crunch.

Grilled Crostini is the perfect vessel for a traditional Southern Pimento Cheese. I love this combo!  The creamy coolness with the perfect bit of tart from the cheese and the satisfying crunch of the grilled baguette. It is just divine!

Do I Have To Grill the Crostini?

Nope! The reason I grilled the crostini for this appetizer it was HOT as the dickens outside. However, I am so glad I grilled the bread because the grill marks are a beautiful contrast to the light peach tones and reds of the pimento cheese spread.

If you are keen on heating the kitchen, then toast those yummy baguette slices in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit, drizzle each bread slice with olive oil and a sprinkle with coarse salt. Bake until golden brown.

How To Make Pimento Cheese Grilled Crostini

  • Making these amazing pimento cheese grilled crostini is a snap! I use “gasp” store-bought pimento cheese. I enjoy making it from scratch, but I am often time short and bless myself with a great store brand pimento cheese.
  • Cut a baguette in 1/3 inch slices and drizzle both sides with olive oil. Heat griddle to medium-high heat. Grill each side of bread slices until nicely marked. Remove with tongs and set aside.
  • I use the Nordic Ware reversible grill/griddle and just love it! Easy cleanup and produces very nice grill marks.
  • The grilled bread is delicious on its own. As soon as the bread cooks my boys circle around the kitchen like hungry sharks.
  • Scoop a heaping tablespoon of pimento cheese and spread on each grilled bread slice. Garnish with fresh finely diced red bell pepper.
  • Serve and enjoy!
