Take 5 for Desk Clutter

There is nothing in the world more distracting when you are trying to make your plan for the week for meals, play dates, sports practices, music lessons, work and all the other billion things we do each week with a cluttered desk.

As much as I would like to devote an entire three hours to clearing out my work space I know that is not realistic. My schedule for today is packed from 6:00 am until 8:00 pm and I know many of you are in the same boat.

Simple Daily Challenge: Today only toss or file 20 pieces of paper, empty the desk trash can and put away 5 items on your flat surface that do not belong there.

Right now I am looking at Math flash cards, nail clippers, music books and an enormous bottle of hand lotions, it is distracting and I know I can do better.

What distracts you at your work station?

  1. You’re lucky you even have a desk! 🙂 I work just about anywhere around the house. Having clutter-free surroundings does help clear the mind of needless thoughts… thoughts which block the flow of creative juices. Yup, it does help to take bite-size chunks out of the huge task of de-cluttering. Baby steps… 🙂

    1. Yep, I am blessed with a desk. You would think I would keep it a bit straighter and appreciate more than I do. I am truly, truly trying though.

  2. Thanks Pam. I needed this one this morning. All cleared and ready to edit boring engineering reports. Blah! Have a beautiful day!
