Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs
Hi, everyone! Today I am excited to share a huge moment of utter egg joy from the family kitchen. I am going to share the steaming method for easy to peel hard boiled eggs using Instant Pot and an egg rack. The Instant Pot has been all the rage across kitchens everywhere. Now with all kinds of fancy pants tools, you can create meals literally in an instant! And yes, this now includes fantastic steamed hard boiled eggs that are perfectly cooked and easy to peel.
The Instant Pot pressure cooker has really taken cooking hard boiled eggs to a new level. It is now super fast to prep eggs for tuna salad, deviled eggs, and for slicing and dicing for salads galore.

But honestly, now that I can use my Instant Pot to steam perfect hard boiled eggs, it will take a real miracle to pull me away from this simple and fast method.
I have little by little been falling in love with my Instant Pot. I think my favorite recipes have been super fast soups and succulent shredded BBQ chicken. Learning to make boiled eggs in this revolutionary kitchen tool has been a real game changer. Now, let’s get cooking!

Tools To Make Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs
- Instant Pot ( I used this one
) and the 6-quart Instant Pot
one works just as well.
- Stackable Egg Steamer Rack and Trivet
- Glass Bowl
- Measuring Cup
- Tongs
Here are some tips on why we used the steam rack to evenly cook eggs and the glass bowl filled with very cold water to stop the cooking process.
Using the Stackable Egg Steamer was key in evenly cooked hard-boiled eggs.

Immersing hard boiled eggs in ice cold water stops the cooking process. Overcooked eggs can discolor.

Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs Recipe
Perfectly cooked, easy to peel hard boiled eggs are a snap using an egg steamer insert and pressure cooker. We love the Instant Pot for this recipe.

Ingredients
- Eggs

Instructions
1.Pour one cup water into the pot, and place the eggs in stackable steamer rack.
2.Close the lid, set for 5 minutes at high pressure.
3.The cooker takes approximately 5 minutes to build to pressure and then 5 minutes to cook.
4.Let pressure cooker release naturally, this will take around 5 to 6 minutes.
5.Immerse hot eggs in cool water to halt the cooking process.
6.Peel eggs now, or later. I have found that peeling right away is the simplest.
Notes
- Hard Boiled Eggs peeled are best eaten that day for best quality.
- Peeled eggs should be eaten that day for best quality.
- Keep cooked hard boiled eggs in shell and store in refrigerator up to one week. ( remember when in doubt, toss it out!)
I think I am going to have to get an instant pot. I spent an hour peeling hard boiled eggs for Easter and they were a disaster!! I love that egg rack…how many does it hold?
